A DWI in Liberty Hill Means Big Sentences and Fines
We Step in For You.

DWI Convictions in Liberty Hill Endanger Your Freedom

You're not the first person charged with a DWI in Liberty Hill.  However, you must take action swiftly to defend yourself.

As any other courthouse in Texas will do, the courts in Williamson County usually tries to impose hefty fines, sentencing, and suspensions for DWI convictions.  Someone with no priors still winds up looking at a $2,000 fine and as long as a six month jail sentence.  You'll be looking at a $4,000 fine and up to twelve months in prison for a second go-round with the court system.

Three means you have moved into felony sentencing. Harsh penalties can range from two to as many as ten in prison and fines as high as $10,000

There is also the license suspension to contend with. You can lose your license for anywhere between six months to over two years, depending on whether you are a repeat offender or not.

There are also sentencing guidelines in place that increase penalties for crimes like DWI with property damage, or DWI with children in the motor vehicle.

A DWI is a mistake. Don't let it ruin your future.

Being arrested for DWI is a traumatic event, but there is still a great defense available to you.

In addition to the jail time, steep fines, and lengthy prison sentences, Williamson County prosecutors have a few other things to throw at you.  They will likely try to suspend your license before you can even have a trial. We can fight that for you. They will also try to leave you with a criminal record that makes it difficult to find work and rent a home.

The stakes are clear. You must win every small battle ahead, so don't try to do it without support from your legal team.

Driving While Intoxicated in Liberty Hill

Within the city limits of Liberty Hill, Travis County, and elsewhere in Texas, operators of motor vehicles with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .08% or above are liable to be detained for suspicion of DWI. That number is the hard line you are not allowed to be at or above while driving on Texas roads.

The amount that you have to consume to be at or above .08% depends on a few physical characteristics, including the strength of the glasses you consumed, the hours since finishing, as well as your sex, weight, and tolerance.

In Liberty Hill, you will be punished based on how many prior offenses you were found guilty of or pled to.

1st Offense

  • A fine as high as $2,000
  • 3 days in jail minimum, with up to six months possible
  • Suspension of your license for as long as one year

Second Offense

  • Up to a $4,000 fine
  • Up to a year in jail
  • Suspension of your license for as long as two years

Third Offense

  • A $10,000 fine
  • Between 2 and 10 years in prison
  • Suspension of your license for as long as two years

Guidelines for child endangerment while driving under the influence are:

  • Increased fines up to $10,000
  • As many as two years in jail
  • Six more months added to the driver's license suspension

Don't run from the officer. Pull over to face the music right away, and avoid adding a felony arrest to the situation.

Once they stop you, ask permission to retrieve your paperwork from wherever you store it. Remain calm, and always be polite to an officer during a traffic stop.

If your officer asks you whether you know the reason for the traffic stop, always reply, "No sir" or "no ma'am." They are fishing for you to admit that they had probable cause for the stop. This removes an avenue of defense for your legal team, so be sure to say that you don't know if you are asked any questions.

If you are asked to perform a field sobriety exam or breathalyzer, you will be on a body camera, but remember that you don't have to take those tests. You will lose your license for a year, but if you were convicted, you would lose your DL anyway. It's p[robably smart to refuse if you were going to fail the test anyway, and let your lawyer handle it from there.

Officers who suspect slurred speech, alcoholic odors, or bloodshot eyes might arrest someone who refuses to test.  Remember to be respectful, never get aggressive with law enforcement, and above all, don't incriminate yourself.

Once you are brought to the station, they can get a warrant to draw blood. However, that's a long process.

Remember to remain silent and ask to speak to your attorney as soon as you get a chance to do so.

Never accept a simple guilty plea if you were arrested for DUI. You must find a capable legal team to mount an aggressive defense on your behalf.
